Good Morning Britain turned into a family affair on Tuesday as host Piers Morgan was joined on the ITV breakfast show by his father-in-law George Walden.
Former Conservative MP George is the father of Piers’ wife and mother to his youngest child Celia Walden.
Journalist Celia, 44, started going out with former newspaper editor Piers, 55, back in 2006.
The couple tied the knot four years later in 2010 in Swinbrook, Oxfordshire, around the time Piers was a judge on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent.
George, who served as minister for Higher Education from 1985 to 1987, appeared on GMB today (September 29) alongside newspaper editors Kevin Maguire and Andrew Pierce to discuss the latest news.
Before the conversation came to an end, Piers couldn’t help but ask his father-in-law what he thought about him.
Piers asked:”After walking her down the aisle 10 years ago, what do you think of your daughter’s husband?”
“I hear good reports from my daughter,” George joked.
“I’m sure everyone will agree that you have become a national treasure now that you’ve changed your opinion on Trump.”
Piers agreed: “Well thank you. Yes, conversations around the dinner table have become easier now I’ve changed my opinion on Trump.”
Co-host Susanna, 49, asked if the pair have been able to meet up recently due to the coronavirus pandemic, and Piers confirmed that he and George have chatted virtually.
Piers’ wife Celia has previously spoken out about how she is in charge in her marriage.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain in May 2018 she responded to the question of whether she wore the trousers, saying: “Uhh yes, I think so!
“I think women are always quietly in charge, I just think it’s best to let the men think that they are.”
Celia gave birth to daughter called Elise in 2011, who is Piers’ fourth child and only girl.
The novelist and critic has previously spoken about how Elise has her dad wrapped around her little finger.
She said “Elise definitely puts him in his place!”
Piers is also the father to three sons; Albert, Spencer and Stanley from his first marriage to Marion Shalloe.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV at 6am
