Piers Morgan says he's been shamed to lose weight after 'seven chins' jibe

Pies Morgan says he’s been shamed into trying to lose weight by his Good Morning Britain co-star Susanna Reid.

The ITV star says he’s put on half a stone in the past few weeks while away from the small screen.

And now he’s hired a personal trainer to try and get his weight down.

Piers, 55, confessed: “Susanna calls me ‘chubster’ and ‘fatso’.

“Even Dr Hilary piled in, and he’s a doctor! He said, ‘at least I’m not overweight,’ and cackled like Jack Nicholson in The Shining.

“And Kevin Pieterson calls me ‘Seven chins’, which isn’t very nice. I’m trying to get them down to six.”

Explaining how the comment has made him splash out on a personal trainer in order to shed the excess pounds, Piers added to The Sun: “I’m going to see a new personal trainer.

“Unfortunately Celia [Piers’ wife] has taken it all quite seriously, so suddenly it’s all the good stuff’s gone and all the kale’s come in and the quinoa and vegetables.

“A lot of vegetables. A lot of salmon.”

Cutting down on booze, the former newspaper editor added: “A lot less Bordeaux – I’m down to one glass a night. And, well, during the summer, a lot of cheese went down my gullet, and it could stretch to a bottle of red.

“Quite comfortably.. Depending on the quality, and maybe a little more.”

But while he may be losing the battle with his weight Piers is coming up trumps in the all important battle for ratings.

Taking to social media earlier this month, Piers couldn’t hide his glee after GMB closed the gap on rival BBC Breakfast upon his and Susanna’s return.

Posting to his 7 million followers, Piers wrote: “BREAKING: Our first day back on GMB yesterday was the highest rated show in the programme’s history!

“28 per cent audience share. 47 per cent up year-on-year.”

Susanna Reid’s co-star swiped: “Sadly, BBC Breakfast collapsed to its lowest rating of the year… thoughts with them at this difficult time.

“Thanks for watching!”
