Princess Maria Galitzine dies suddenly aged 31 leaving behind two-year-old son

Princess Maria Galitzine has died from a cardiac aneurysm just days before the royal turned 32.

The Austrian royal tragically leave behind a two-year-old son and her husband.

She was a descendant of the country’s last Emperor, Karl of Austria who passed away 98-years-ago.

The princess, also known as Maria Singh died suddenly on May 4, less than a week before her 32nd birthday.

She had been living in Houston with her husband, Rishi Singh and their son Maxim.

The tragic news was confirmed in an obituary published by The Houston Chronicle – Maxim was described as “the apple of her eye”.

Princess Maria passed away just six days before her 32nd birthday

Maxim was born shortly before Maria married Rishi in February 2018.

Maria was laid to rest last week in Forest Park Cemetery, Houston.

Her obituary read: “Our Maria passed away in the Houston morning of Monday, May 4th, 2020, from a sudden cardiac aneurysm.

“She was born in 1988 to Prince and Princess Piotr Galitzine in the city of Luxembourg, Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.”

A spokesperson for the Emperor Karl League, a company dedicated to Emperor Karl I, who reigned over Austria for two-years also confirmed the news.

Maria’s sister, Princess Tatiana said that the family had been brought up normally, only using their royal status when they had been invited to royal weddings.

She leaves behind two-year-old son, Maxim

Princess Maria was born in Luxembourg to two royal dynasties, her father Prince Piotr Galitzine, a Russian aristocrat, and mother, Archduchess Maria Anna of Austria, the daughter of Rudolf, Archduke of Austria.

Her father was the youngest son of Emperor Charles I of Austria and Empress Zita of Bourbon-Parma, the two became the last Emperor and Empress of Austria.

Maria’s grandparents were exiled from Austria following World War One, her great-grandfather Charles I of Austria passed away in 1922.

The family were given permission for Empress Zita’s funeral to be held in Austria after she passed away aged 96, but it was not a state funeral.
