Rapper T.I.'s daughter slams dad over controversial virginity comments

T.I.’s daughter Deyjah Harris has slammed her father’s past comments about her virginity.

Last year, the US rapper caused outrage as he said he accompanies Harris, 18, to the gynaecologist every year “to check her hymen” and ensure that it is still intact.

At the time, he commented: “We have yearly trips to the gynaecologist to check her hymen.

“As of her 18th birthday, her hymen is still intact.”

Many slammed the Live Your Life star over the outdated practice at the time, which the World Health Organisation has called “a violation of the human rights of girls and women”

T.I – real name Clifford Joseph Harris Jr. – later stated claimed he was “joking” and offered a public apology to his daughter.

His Deyjah daughter has now opened up about learning of her father’s comments in a clip from the family’s reality show, T.I. & Tiny: Friends & Family Hustle.

Deyjah said that she noticed she had been tagged in a story on Twitter and immediately knew what it was about after only seeing the word “gynaecologist.”

She admitted she was “very shocked, hurt, angry [and] embarrassed.”

While talking to two friends, she said: “I mean, honestly, I’m embarrassed, definitely,” as she explained that she was trying to put the scandal out of her mind.

Deyjah also said she felt like she “couldn’t have said no” when her father wanted to speak with her doctors, noting that her father’s reaction would be different towards any of her brothers having sex.

She added: “I do think my dad treats me differently than the boys when it comes to the subject of sex and supervision.

“My dad even jokes with [my brother] King about becoming a baby daddy. He would never joke like that with me.”

The brunette also said she doesn’t feel like she can talk to her dad because he “plays the victim” a lot.

She continued: “I just don’t really care to be around him right now. I’ll be a better parent.

“I mean, I’m not saying he’s a bad parent, I’m not saying that. I’m just saying when it comes to stuff like this, I’m just gonna be more connected mentally, emotionally.”

Deyjah even said the incident caused her to look at her relationship with her dad “differently.”

She tearfully admitted: “This situation was just a little traumatising for me.”
