Ricky Gervais says classic comedies The Office and Extras could be made into musicals.
The David Brent legend believes any show can be adapted for the stage – as happened with Only Fools And Horses.
He told the Daily Star: “I think anything can be made a musical, The Office or whatever.
“It’s like people say to me you should do a sitcom about where I work, I’m a cab driver. And I go, ‘No you should do a sitcom about where you work because it depends on the expertise’.
“The obvious one would be (Ricky’s 2009 film) The Invention Of Lying because it’s such a strong concept and the songs would be funny with people blurting out these truths.”

The 58-year-old also praised Netflix for airing series two of his show After Life.
He said: “This couldn’t be on terrestrial television at a decent time.”
The new series returns to the town of Tambury where Ricky will reprise the role of Tony, who is still struggling the loss of his wife.
Viewers were moved to tears watching the second series’ trailer.
One said: “Who else cried during this? Nope, not me, was an allergy I swear!”
