Ricky Gervais thinks the world would be a “better place” if humans were completely wiped out.
The funnyman believes bees are far more important than us nuisance humans in the grand scheme of things.
Animal lover Ricky, 59, is often very vocal about his preference for pets over people.
And as the globe faces a climate change crisis, the David Brent star said: “We are part of nature – we are not above it – we are not in charge.
“We are not even the most important species.
“If we were wiped out tomorrow the world would be a better place… it would go back and it would be perfect again.
“If bees are wiped out, we’re all screwed.
“We’re not as important as bees – we are one great ape, that’s all we are.
“What exists now, which may be between 5-10million species of animal, including insects…they are only 1% of the species that have ever existed.

“99% of all species are now extinct, and we are responsible for a big chunk of them in the last 200 years.”
The After Life actor previously said he was at a point in his life where he feels like he can say and do what he wants.
He made his feeling about his fellow man very clear and revealed he will do anything to avoid the “awful” human species.
And he has insisted he truly does prefer dogs over humans, saying to the One Of The Family podcast: “I like people, they are just not my favourite animal.”
It comes after environmentalist Sir David Attenborough recently called for a “stop to the damaging stuff” as he says that saving the planet is within our grasp.

In a video message to mark World Environment Day 2020, he said: “Suddenly, saving our planet is within reach.
“We have a plan. We know what to do.
“Stop the damaging stuff, roll out the new green tech, stabilise the human population as low as we fairly can, keep hold of the natural wealth we have currently got, and we’ll have built a stable, healthy world that we can benefit from forever.
“We now have a choice to create a planet that we can all be proud of, our planet.
“The perfect home for ourselves and the rest of life on Earth.”
Last week Ricky joined a host of celebrities in signing an open letter pleading with PM Boris Johnson to end the exotic pet trade.
Dame Judi Dench, Alesha Dixon, Leona Lewis, Sue Perkins, Alison Steadman, Paul O’Grady and Michaela Strachan are among the other stars to sign the petition.
They teamed up with the World of Animal Protection and the Campaign to End Wildlife Trade (CEWT) to urge the Prime Minister to crackdown on the industry.
Together, they say animals are being taken from the wild or farmed in cruel conditions to meet the consumer demand for exotic pets, traditional Chinese medicine and tourism.
