Scarlett Moffatt admits she 'purposefully put weight on' after fitness DVD

Scarlett Moffatt has opened up about the online bullying she has received about her weight and body image.

The former Gogglebox star revealed she deals with the abuse by sharing the Samaritans’ number to keyboard warriors.

Opening up further in the chat with Frankie Bridge on the singer’s Open Mind podcast, the 29-year-old admitted she purposefully put on weight after she dropped from a size 18 to a size 8 by using her fitness DVD.

She began: “I do get grief about how I handle trolls because I message them and ask if they’re OK and send them the number for the Samaritans.

“I’ve never been in a place where I’ve felt the need to comment on someone’s photo and say you look fat or ugly.

“They must be in such a dark place that the only way they think they’ll get attention is by being negative.

She added: “I try and reach out to them, I let them know that’s not the way to go about feeling better about yourself.”

The TV personality faced backlash when she released her controversial fitness DVD, only months later it was claimed the star managed to shift the pounds by attending a rigorous Swiss bootcamp.

Speaking about the DVD, the Geordie lass admitted it was the “worst thing I’ve done” and “was quite detrimental to my mental health”.

She continued: “I’ve also deleted all my before and after pictures…Not only were they bad for my peace of mind it wasn’t really good for other people because now I look like my before picture again.

“I sort of rebelled against the DVD because I just didn’t like how it happened and I just wasn’t for it anymore.

“I purposefully started putting weight on. I was sort of like, ‘if I get big again it can’t get brought up’. I can’t have this stigma attached to me about this DVD and people will stop buying it.”
