Sir David Attenborough joins Instagram and shares fierce warning with followers

Sir David Attenborough almost caused the internet to crash after he opened up an Instagram account.

The 94-year-old icon created a platform in a bid to spread the word that “the world is in trouble”.

Within no time at all David had racked up over 1.4million followers and an abundance of welcome tributes from celebrities and fans.

The national treasure was greeted by Sir Andy Murray who chimed: “Welcome to Instagram Sir David!”

Joe Wicks, who is formerly known as The Body Coach, couldn’t resist sharing the love on is own page, penning: “Welcome to Instagram Sir @DavidAttenborough.

“An Instagram account worth following if you love David, wildlife and planet earth.”

Love Island’s Dr Alex George simply wrote: “Hero.”

While Formula 1 world champion, Nico Rosberg exclaimed: “Genuinely an inspiring enrichment for the Instagram community. Welcome Sir David.”

Despite being hailed by famous people from around the globe, David had another purpose to serve and that was to issue a fierce warning to humanity that “the world is in trouble”.

Doing what David does best, he took to the great outdoors to video his firm introductory message that certainly resonated and hit home.

Addressing fans with the harsh reality, he said “Saving our planet is now a communications challenge.

“We know what to do, we just need the will.”

In his first post that has been witnessed by over 3million people already, he urged: “The world is in trouble.

“Continents are on fire. Glaciers are melting. Coral reefs are dying. Fish are disappearing from our oceans. The list goes on and on.”

His opening caption read: “David Attenborough has spent a lifetime travelling, exploring the wild places of our planet and documenting the living world in all its variety and wonder. He’s also witnessed the damage caused.

“Saving our planet is now a communications challenge. We know what to do, we just need the will.

“That’s why we want to share this message on Instagram. Because there is hope and together, we can inspire change.”
