Sport Relief viewers delighted as Girls Aloud members reunite in heartwarming moment

Sport Relief returned to our screens this evening which, once again, brought the worlds of sport and entertainment together to raise money to help vulnerable people in both the UK and the world’s poorest countries.

Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh teamed up with some famous faces to compete in a charity version of hit BBC talent show, The Greatest Dancer .

Dance captain Cheryl, 36, got the shock of her life when her Girls Aloud bandmate appeared on stage alongside Jay McGuiness Harry Judd, Samantha Quek, and Alexandra Burke for the special.

Kimberley had kept her performance a secret but the savvy judge recognised Kimberley immediately, sharing her excitement before the beauty had even turned around.

Taking to Twitter, one excited Sport Reliefs said: “Here for seeing Cheryl and Kimberley on Sport Relief together.”

Another added: “Girls Aloud reunion on Sports Relief.”

A third said: “Aw Cheryl’s face when she spotted Kimberley.”

Kimberley’s dance troupe named Encore went up against Don8, which was made up of Louis Smith, Saffron Barker, and Coronation Street’s Katie McGlynn.

Dance captains Cheryl, Oti Mabuse, Matthew Morrison and Todrick Hall had a tough decision to make following the two amazing performances.

Don8 were eventually crowned the winners after an impressive street dance performance to Becky Hill’s hit I Wish You Well.

The Girls Aloud babe was gobsmacked to see Kimberley on stage

Kimberley told The Sun Online that keeping her performance a secret from Cheryl was making her so anxious she ended up avoiding her best mate for a week so that she wouldn’t spill the beans.

She explained: “It was really stressful for me to keep it a secret, it just felt really weird.

“I was actively avoiding speaking to her that week because I didn’t want to feel weird if I was lying.”

Cheryl didn’t expect to see bestie Kimberley on stage

Cheryl and Kimberley shot to fame in girl band Girls Aloud after auditioning for ITV talent show Popstars: The Rivals in 2002.

Alongside band members Nadine Coyle, Sarah Harding and Nicola Roberts, the girl group have gone on to have several number one hits and become big showbiz names across the globe.

The Masked Singer UK winner Nicola has previously teased that Girls Aloud could reunite in 2022 to mark the band’s 20th anniversary.
