The Chase Mark Labbett upset as he gets 11 questions wrong and team wins £36,000

The Chase viewers were left cheering for the underdog tonight when three contestants managed to beat The Beast.

Unfortunately, Mark “The Beast” Labbett had a disastrous final round, getting 11 answers wrong – giving the players the opportunity to push back.

Jon, Pamela and Susan won £36,000, with Mark taking the blame by sadly admitting: “I threw that away.”

First up, Jon and Pamela made it back to the table with a whopping £44,000 under their belts, after hugely successful cash builder rounds.

Poker-player Jon was first up, trumping quiz champion Mark and winning £36,000 for the team.

Next up, NHS nurse Pamela tried her hand at the tricky quiz questions, earning a hefty £8,000 for the group.

Final contestant Susan decided to play it safe and accepted Mark’s offer of minus £8,000.

Making it back to the team, their final sum was a whopping £36,000, as the trio squared up to The Beast.

After a heated final round, Mark failed to beat their string of correct answers, as he sent them home with £12,000 each.

Stumbling over the answers, he got 11 questions wrong, shaking his head in disappointment as the players pushed back.

Over on Twitter, viewers were floored by the team’s performance and commiserated with The Beast for such an unlucky round.

One said: “Not one of Mark’s better days.”

A second agreed: “The Beast has obviously just let these lot win, shocking today.”

The team were chuffed to take home a grand total of £36,000 between them

While a third chimed: “11 pushbacks. Talk about a bad day for Mark.”

Accepting his defeat, an upset Mark congratulated the team, saying: “Well played guys, I’ll take it on the chin. I threw that away.”

The Chase airs on weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
