The Chase player red-faced as he forgets pregnant wife's name in awkward moment

The Chase contestant Shamit had a seriously awkward moment during Thursday night’s show when he forgot the name of his pregnant wife.

Shamit was in seat No3 during the episode and viewers were left wondering how well he’d do against Anne “The Governess” Hegerty after his awkward memory lapse.

He eventually remembered she was called Rhea, but the moment definitely didn’t go unnoticed by viewers at home.

One said: “If one of these questions is about his wife he’s got no f***ing chance.”

Another tweeted: “Damnit Shamit! You forgot your wife’s name!?”

A third wrote: “It’s bad enough that guys forget their wedding anniversary – but your wife’s name!?”

Someone else joked: “Plot twist: she doesn’t exist.”

A fifth laughed: “He’s called Shamit. His wife’s called Rhea… there’s a dirty sexy joke in there somewhere!”

And a sixth said: “I stand corrected, even though he doesn’t know his own wife’s name.”

It wasn’t the only awkward moment though, as he got a question that seemed easy enough very wrong.

Host Bradley Walsh asked: “The Emerald Cuckoo has plumage of gold and which other colour?”

Shamit answered red, however the answer was green, and viewers couldn’t believe the mishap, given that the answer was in its name.

“Emerald cuckoo. F***ing red?” one said.

Another wondered: “Red emeralds?”

Despite getting £4,000 in his cash builder round, it wasn’t meant to be for Shamit and he went crashing out of the game.

After Shamit was eliminated, Anne joked: “I’m just so relieved he remembered his wife’s name.”

Sadly, player four Jenny was also eliminated, meaning it was down to John and Bethan to take on The Governess for their prize fund of £14,000.

They managed to get 14 questions right before it was Anne’s turn to try and chase them down.

The duo were no match for Anne though, and they would have needed around 21 questions right to beat her.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV
