The Chase turns awkward as player accuses Jenny Ryan of 'slap in the face'

The Chase contestants squared up to “The Vixen” Jenny Ryan on tonight’s show, hoping to bring home a windfall.

Second player Liz racked up a modest £4,000 in the cash builder, meaning she had three options for the next round.

Jenny offered a whopping £35,000 as the high offer, and just £1,000 as the low offer – leading Liz to look to her teammates for advice.

Fourth contestant Jat was insulted by the low offer and hit out at Jenny for her lack of faith in Liz’s abilities.

He remarked: “I think that’s a bit of a slap in the face.”

Jat suggested Jenny’s offer was a “slap in the face” on today’s show

Jenny’s face said it all, as she threatened to behave even more harshly when it was his turn on the podium.

She snapped: “Jack thought the £1,000 pound offer was a slap in the face – I am looking forward to giving you some offers.”

Eurovision enthusiast Liz managed to make it back to base, meaning it was just herself and Jat in the final round.

Bradley Walsh watched on in amusement as Jenny and the contestants bantered

Jat earned an impressive £5,000 in the cash builder round, which gave Jenny the opportunity to get her own back.

She said: “Here’s your slap in the face, £1,000. Here’s something to knock you sideways, £56,000.”

Desperate to bring Jat with her to the final, Liz remarked: “I don’t mind which one you’ve taken but please don’t take the high one!”

Unfortunately, Jat and Liz were knocked out by The Vixen in the final round

Encouraging him, Jenny agreed: “It seems reasonable, you gave some good answers there under pressure.”

The Chase airs on weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
