The Chase's Bradley Walsh aghast as no players make it to final in show rarity

The Chase aired a jaw-dropping repeat episode tonight, which saw zero contestants make it through to the final.

In a hugely rare show moment, host Bradley Walsh was stunned as all four players were beaten by the chaser Shaun Wallace, with none of them making it through to the next round.

The final contestant, Ryan, decided to go for the high offer of £50k, saying: “You’re only here once.”

Unfortunately, Shaun, known on the show as The Dark Destroyer, was on top quizzing form, and so Ryan was also booted out of the competition.

This meant no player made it through, leaving the ITV programme forced to give them one final chance to win a cash prize.

Fans went into meltdown on Twitter, branding the show ‘dire’ and ‘painful’ after the contestants were all caught.

One said: “This is painful tonight.”

While another wrote: “Dire game.”

“It’s such a boring episode when they all get knocked out,” added a third.

Some slated the players for their performance, with one writing: “Wow. What is with the contestants on the #TheChase today?”

Another penned: “Think they must have pulled this team in off the street at the last minute.”

However, others sympathised with the team as they claimed the questions were “tough”.

A Twitter user said: “Questions are very hard today to be fair.”

“A few tough questions there,” commented another.

Another remarked: “To be fair Jordanna had some very tough questions…”

It’s rare that all four contestants are caught, but the ITV show does have a solution if this happens.

One player, chosen by the team, goes up against Shaun Wallace one final time in a bid to win £1k for each contestant.

Ryan stepped up, but unfortunately was caught by Wallace after a tense final chase.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV
