The Chase legend Mark Labbett is known for his sharp tongue, and this evening’s episode saw one contestant in particular fall at his mercy.
Scottish player Susan, who recently gave birth to a baby girl, could be seen cowering as soon as Mark appeared in the studio.
Picking up on her nerves, Mark turned to the first contestant, Mike, and hinted the rest of the team would be rubbish.
After Mike got through to the final, Mark quipped: “That’s annoying on several measures – not least in which Susan and Beckie were terrified. If I’d caught him that’d be job done.”
Later, when second contestant Gary made it through to the final, Mike took another swipe at Susan and her teammate Beckie.
Laughing, he praised the “very good front half of the team…” before looking at Susan, and saying: “Oh good, I think the tides will turn.”
However, the most savage quip came when it was Susan’s turn to play, as Mark offered her a whopping sum of £73,000 for the high offer.
In a snide tone of voice, he suggested Susan wasn’t smart enough to win the hefty payout, saying: “I’m offering it cause she can’t get it.”

Susan refused to respond to the rude remark, and instead turned to her teammates Mike and Gary for some helpful advice.
After much deliberation, Susan opted to take the low offer of minus £5,000 – much to the disappointment of her teammates.
However, Mark supported the decision, as he explained: “Statistically you’re absolutely right to go for the minus one.

“If you go on to win by one or two points, this has been the right decision.”
Though Susan made it through to the final round, the team’s general knowledge proved no match for Mark, as he beat them with moments to spare.
Bidding farewell to the team, he praised their performance and added: “I had to bring my A-plus game there. I’m lucky.”
The Chase airs on weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
