The One Show's Alex Scott horrified as Gethin Jones exposes wardrobe blunder

The One Show was back on screens this evening with hosts Alex Scott and Gethin Jones on presenting duty.

The dynamic duo replaced regular host Alex Jones, who is currently taking a break from presenting the BBC magazine show.

Thursday’s show got off to an awkward start as cheeky Gethin couldn’t help but point out his co-star’s unfortunate wardrobe blunder.

Opening the show, Alex, 35, said: “Hello and welcome to your Thursday live One Show with Gethin Jones.”

The 35-year-old former England footballer continued: “I wasn’t going to mention it but he did burn his cabbage on Masterchef last night but we still love you.”

Co-host Gethin agreed: “It was terrible, wasn’t it.”

The giggling Welshman continued: “But mind you, saying that you burned your blouse before coming on here so you have to stay in one position throughout the rest of the show.

A gobsmacked Alex said: “I can’t believe you just outed me like that.”

Gethin, 42, joked: “Alex Scott there with her iron.”

The footballer folded her arms as Gethin pointed out that she had burnt her top with an iron before going on air

The hosts chatted to Harry Potter star Miriam Margolyes this evening about how she is bringing the theatre into people’s living rooms with a play she has filmed in lockdown called Watching Rosie.

Alex’s wardrobe malfunction comes after she bravely opened up about the struggles she faced before joining the cast of Strictly Come Dancing last year.

The football pundit, who was partnered up with professional dancer Neil Jones , admitted she couldn’t face telling her family and friends about what she was going through as she didn’t want to worry them.

While she and Neil made it to the eleventh week of the dancing show, Alex has revealed she was trolled on social media months before performing on the dance floor for the first time.

The TV star reflected on her difficult time in an interview with The Sun in earlier this year and admitted she couldn’t ignore the vicious comments.

The former Arsenal footballer told the publication “At the start, I was just trying to pass over it. But you see it.

“It’s easy for people to say, ‘Well why don’t you come off social media? Why don’t you react to them? Why don’t you tell your family and friends?'”

She added: “But I didn’t want to tell my family and friends because I didn’t want to put that pressure on them, I didn’t want them to worry.”

Alex even claimed she “had the lot” when it came to abuse after receiving racist comments and remarks while she was a BBC and Sky Sports presenter.

The BBC star, who played in 2015’s World Cup, became the first female pundit on Sky Sports for men’s Premier League matches in 2018.

Alex and Neil came fifth place on Strictly last year, which left Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher and his professional partner Oti Mabuse to win the Strictly Glitterball.

The One Show airs weekdays on BBC at 7pm
