Today The Wanted’s Tom Parker shared the devastating news that he has “stage four glioblastoma”.
The 32-year-old singer is married to Kelsey Hardwick, has a 15-month-old daughter and another baby on the way.
In an interview with OK! Magazine, Tom explained: “I knew something wasn’t right, but I never expected it to be this. You never think this will happen to you.”
Tom suffered a seizure in July 2020, and took himself to A&E where he was put on a waiting list for an MRI scan.
But six weeks later he had another seizure during a family trip to Norwich, and was rushed to hospital. There he was told he had stage four glioblastoma.

A glioblastoma is a brain tumour of the glial cells.
Brain tumours are put into groups depending on how fast they are likely to grow, ranging from one to four.
A stage four glioblastoma is the most common high grade cancerous primary brain tumour in adults.
It’s a malignant tumour that can quickly spread to other parts of the brain.

Glioblastoma is most commonly found in men aged between 50 and 60, and there is no link with having a previous history of cancer.
It’s an aggressive form of cancer which is difficult to treat and often resistant to treatment.
Tom is already undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy in a bid to prolong his life.
Patients have a 10% chance of surviving five years after diagnosis, according to figures.
However, Tom decided not to ask for a prognosis, and insists he will beat the illness and have a future with his children.
He said: “I’m going to be here, I’m going to fight this.”
