This Morning host Alison Hammond baffled people tuning in today as they noticed that she kept getting her co-star Dermot O’Leary’s name wrong as she chatted to him.
The presenter took over the ITV show as she was both hosting and guest editing, meaning she had full creative control over the format of the show, as well as what segment she wanted to air.
However, as she spoke to Dermot, fans couldn’t help noticing that she was pronouncing his name strangely throughout the show.
Spotting that she was pronouncing his name as Der-mot, with the emphasis on the mot, fans took to social media to point out the mistake.
One posted: “Why is she calling him DerMOTT?”
Another added: “Very annoying.”
A third chipped in: “‘Durr-mott’.”
However, one fan thought that Alison was doing it on purpose to get a reaction out of viewers as they chipped in: “She just pronounced Dermot correctly..proof that’s she’s saying ‘Durmott’ on purpose for s***’s and giggles!”
Despite the incorrect pronunciation, Dermot didn’t react to the name blunder as the pair giggled together through the special show.
Meanwhile, viewers seemed to be loving having Alison on the show, as some took to social media to beg for her to be made a main presenter from now on.
Alison got stuck in with her new creative control as she made changes to the studio, adding new cushions with her face and name on to the sofa and the walls on the fashion set.
Not only that, she gave the show crew branded t-shirts, as she got them to show off their special designs at the start of the show.
Fans were loving the show change, as one posted: “Alison is just the best presenter for #ThisMorning give her the main job please.”
Another added: “Alison needs to present #thismorning everyday!”
A third chipped in: “So nice to see Alison in charge. I would love to see her spin the wheel.”
This Morning continues on Monday at 10am on ITV.
