Tipping Point fans and host Ben Shephard were left baffled today after contestant Maddy was unaware of how many lions are on an English football shirt despite the answer being in the title of one of the most popular British singles of all time.
The game show hopeful incorrect guessed at there being two lions on a shirt, despite the iconic football anthem Three Lions.
Baddiel, Skinner and Lightning Seeds’ track dominated the World Cup at the time and is still one of the most instantly recognisable songs of all time.
The track has been described as at the ‘de facto anthem’ of english football since 1996.
It was rer-eleased in 1998 as well as in 2010.
Football fan Ben Shephard, who hosts Tipping Point, was left wincing as Maddy made the catastrophic error.
And Ben wasn’t the only one, as viewers quickly took to Twitter to express their horror at the fail.
One viewer fan wrote: “#tippingpoint the contestants in this show get more stupid as each show progresses.”

Another added: “Two Lions on a shirt. Wonder what happened to the other one?”
A third joked: “Two Lions on the shirt! Doesn’t quite resonate as much!”
“The jury is still out on whether there’s intelligent life on Earth! #TippingPoint,” a forth mocked.
Meanwhile, a fifth teased: “Apparently, @Baddiel it’s two lions on a shirt, not three!”
Despite her error and also failing to know Earth is the third closest planet to the sun, Maddie almost managed to make it to the final.
However, in a final twist fellow contestant Ronnie managed to to knock a flurry of counters into the prize zone.
At the end of the round it was Ronnie who made it through to the final with £1750 in his prize fund against Maddie’s £1100.
