Tipping Point host Ben Shephard couldn’t help but scoff during this evening’s episode when one contestant incorrectly answered a question about the theatre industry.
Down to the final three, player Stewart was hoping to make it to the jackpot, but he had his hopes dashed in the second round.
Firing questions at him, Ben managed to catch Stewart out with a tricky query about a Shakespearian play.
He asked the ITV hopeful which actor had appeared in a 2014 adaption of a Shakespearian play – leaving Stewart lost for words.
Ben said: “In the 2014 West End adaptation of Richard the Third which actor played the title role?”
Hazarding a guess, he eventually answered: “Laurence Olivier?”
Ben slammed the wrong answer, raising his eyebrows and saying: “In the 2014 adaption?”
Legendary actor and director Laurence Olivier passed away more than 30 years ago, dying of kidney failure in the summer of 1989.
His death meant an appearance in a 2014 theatre appearance would have been impossible, leaving Stewart embarrassed.
Laughing awkwardly over the wrong answer, he said: “Oh… 2014?”
Ben added: “That would have been a stretch. It was Martin Freeman. It was Doctor Watson, it wasn’t Sherlock.”
The wrong answer – and his subsequent lack of counters – meant Stewart was eliminated, leaving contestants Lucy and Rachael to battle it out.
Bidding him farewell, Ben said: “As a rider, I’m afraid it’s not going to be enough to catch Rachael.”

Stewart replied: “Thank you, I’ve had a good day.”
Lucy was next to leave the competition when a question about Eartha Kitt’s rendition of “Santa Baby” forced her to opt for a pass.
Turning to Ben, final contestant Rachael had the odds stacked in her favour as she prepared to take on the Tipping Point slot machine.
Tipping Point airs on weekdays at 4pm on ITV.
