Over two decades ago actress Lycia Naff’s life was changed forever when she filmed arguably one of the most effective and iconic movie scenes of all time.
However, while the viewers at home got a kick out of Naff flashing three breasts at Arnold Schwarzenegger in Total Recall, it was a much different story for the now 57-year-old who retired from acting after that scene.
It was 1990 and films were starting to get more brave with bizarre scenes using prosthetics, make-up and green screens were still rather new and exciting.
This led to a lot of weird and wonderful films and scenes, in particular it was Total Recall which shocked the film industry.

At the time, viewers couldn’t believe what they were seeing when Naff, who played a mutant named Mary who was a hooker, flashed herself at Douglas Quaid (Schwarzenegger).
Undeniably Naff looked beautiful in the scene and was dolled up with a glam make-up look featuring a confident and alluring bright red lip.
Her three breasts were also not hers – she has confirmed herself many times since that they were fake.
But sadly for Naff, who admits she signed up for it, it suddenly hit her when director Paul Verhoeven shouted that the cameras were rolling.

Naff previously told Vulture that although she looks confident playing her part, there’s a gleam in her eye that “proves” she wasn’t at all.
She told the publication that she found the scene “embarrassing” to film and that it has haunted her ever since.
The former actress said: “I felt really exposed.
“It didn’t hit me until the first moment where the scene called for me to expose myself, because what came over me was such shame.”

Naff continued: “Which was weird, because they weren’t my breasts, and it was what I had signed up to do.”
Heartbreakingly, Naff recalled how she started to cry while filming the raunchy scene.
She continued: “If you look closely at those scenes when I’m opening my blouse, I’m smiling, but not in my eyes.
“It was probably good for the character and gave her an extra layer, but that was completely unplanned.”

Naff added: “I was just feeling really emotional and trying to hide it. I was embarrassed, and I was embarrassed for feeling embarrassed.
“I couldn’t get over that feeling that opening up my blouse felt so real.”
The star also appeared in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Baywatch but annoyingly for Naff, it was the Total Recall scene which her name got attached to.
Naff told Vulture how director Verhoeven originally wanted to give her four breasts.
On her thoughts on having four breasts, she said: “But the feedback was that I looked too bovine, like a cow ready to be milked, and that wasn’t sexy.”
