Ulrika Jonsson has spoken out to defend her love of tanning.
The 52-year-old TV star opened verbal fire, revealing that at first glance she thought that Brit’s were “pale, doughy and pasty” with many not striking up an opportunity to bask in the rays enough.
Ulrika took aim at the “Grinches of summer” who continue to condemn sunbathing, for harmful ageing and skin damage, with some more serious cases leading to cancer.
In a new column, the star explained her in depth rational for becoming an avid bather and why she had no plans to apologise to the ‘Tanning Police’ any time soon.

Knowing the risk factors, she spoke frankly about all of the good elements when it comes to enjoying some vitamin D.
However the former Gladiators presenter said the sun was ‘in her DNA’ and as a daylight-deprived Swede, she spoke about the need to lap up rays when given the opportunity.
She argued: “UV light raises our levels of serotonin, which can help to combat anxiety and depression.”

Continuing in her piece for The Sun, Ulrika added: “Sunlight can help towards better sleep and strengthen your bones and — fun fact — as a consequence of sunlight, your body releases nitric oxide into your blood, which lowers your blood pressure.”
Admitting that she liked to sunbathe without care, she vented: “I don’t nag smokers nor drinkers for their habits.
“My drug of choice is the sun and as I’ve lived by the sword, I shall, no doubt, die by it — as long as it’s in the sun.”
Ulrika’s rant lands days after a video had been shared to her Instagram stories after the TV starlet had enjoyed some beverages in the sunshine to celebrate her daughter Martha’s 16th birthday.
Showing off her mahogany tanned skin to camera, the blonde bombshell simply captioned the short clip “quite drunk”.
