Victoria Beckham opens up about being bullied as an 'awkward' teenager

Victoria Beckham has revealed that before finding fame as one-fifth of the world’s biggest girl group, she was often left on her own and bullied.

The Spice Girls star, who is married to David Beckham, added that she struggled with self-confidence during her younger years.

Fashionista Victoria, 46, now claims that she encourages her daughter Harper, nine, to approach quieter children in school in a bid to make them feel more comfortable.

Revealing her pain to Vogue Australia, the mum-of-four wrote: “When I was at school, I was quite an awkward teenager,

“I didn’t have a huge amount of friends, and looking back I recognise that I was bullied at times.”

She went on to add: “I would never want anyone else to feel how I was made to feel.

“So when Harper started school, I said to her: ‘If you’re ever in the playground and there’s a little girl who is sitting on her own, ask her to play with you, go up and engage with her, because Mummy used to be that little girl.'”

“I want everyone to know that no one is on their own when Harper is around,” she continued.

Victoria, who was then Victoria Adams attended St. Mary’s High School in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire.

David Beckham’s wife has in the past said that fellow school children would often throw things at her.

“Children were literally picking things up out of the puddles and throwing them at me. And I just stood there, on my own. No one was with me.

“I didn’t have any friends.”

She once admitted to being “mortified” when her dad dropped her off at school in his Rolls Royce, speaking during a question and answer with Fern Mallis, Victoria said: “when he used to take us to school in the Rolls, I was just mortified.”

Daily Star Online recently revealed that Victoria would not be joining her Spice Girls bandmates on their upcoming tour.

As the group gears up to celebrate 25 years in music, a source close to VB told us: “Victoria will always be a Spice Girl and loves the girls very much but due to other commitments would not be able to go on tour with them.”
