Victoria's Secret model Romee Strijd wears only a towel to urge fans to 'stay home'

Victoria’s Secret model Romee Strijd took to her Instagram account wearing nothing but a towel to encourage her followers to “please stay home” amid coronavirus fears.

She used her platform for the greater good by urging people to think of others, while requesting for everyone to come “together” to beat the virus by listening to health officials.

The Dutch-born model meant business as she told fans “it’s time to take this seriously” alongside the sexy snap to demand attention.

Her message comes just days after it was declared that Europe had become the new epicentre of the virus with more cases and deaths on the rise than anywhere else in the world at this current time, other than Wuhan in China.

Speaking out she said: “This morning I woke up realising about how crazy this time is, how important it is to stay home now, not only for yourself but also for others, for your mum and dad, your grandma and grandpa. It’s time to take this seriously!

“Let’s take this time to reset, to remember what is important, reducing travel, enjoy time with your family, but also reconnect with yourself, to think about what is really important for you.”

Urging fans to take government advice seriously, Romee wrote: “Please stay home, the only way our lives will get back to normal is if we do this together!

“It’s hard for everyone, but who ever thought we could have such a big impact by staying home? Let’s do this together!”

France, Italy and Spain have now officially declared that they are on lockdown in a desperate bid to prevent the wider spread of the deadly virus.

Britain is yet to follow in the same steps as other European countries, with 14 further people having died in the UK today, bringing the death toll to 35.

Coronavirus pandemic

News came yesterday that Britons aged 70 will be told “within the coming weeks” to stay at home for an extended period to shield them from COVID-19.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock said those that fall into the age category will be asked to self-isolate for “a very long time”.

It is expected that the government will release additional information for the elderly on Monday, however as of yet they are not being asked to go into quarantine.
