Who Wants to Be a Millionaire’s live audience were left gasping this evening, as a player make a nasty joke about Jeremy Clarkson’s weight.
Final contestant Anna stepped up to the plate, making it successfully to the £1,000 mark before the 60-year-old presenter started to make small talk.
Jeremy then quizzed her about her job – working for a magazine – and said: “So you’re a digital retouch artist?”
The former Top Gear host started wondering whether Anna photoshopped models to look thinner for a living.
She replied: “I sometimes make people thinner, sometimes I make them fatter.”
Gesturing to his own physique, he wondered: “Can you make me thinner?”
In a savage swipe, she scoffed: “I’m not a wizard.”
The audience around audibly gasped, shocked by her comment as they waited for Jeremy to react.
Looking around the studio, Jeremy tried to brush it off, insisting: “I think that was fair enough.”
Swiftly, he moved on to the next round of questions, as Anna tried her best to climb the ranks of the illustrious money tree.
Unfortunately, a question about Land’s End threw her off track, and she was booted off the show with just £1,000 in her pocket.
The question read: “Sailing due south from Land’s End in Cornwall, in which country would you next reach the mainland?”
Below, the options were: France, Spain, Portugal or Morocco.
While Anna plumped for Morocco, a disappointed Jeremy announced the correct answer was, in fact, Spain.
Wishing Anna all the best, Jeremy remarked: “I’m so sorry about that! That was a real nightmare question. And a nightmare part of the board for you.”
Who Wants to Be a Millionaire airs on Tuesdays at 8pm on ITV.
