Winter Love Island cast lose £500k in opportunities during coronavirus lockdown

Former Love Island stars often rake in cash with lavish brand deals, club appearances and spin-off shows, but this hasn’t been the case this year.

The cast of the first Winter edition of Love Island has reportedly lost out on substantial amounts of cash due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Previous contestants including Chris Hughes and Kem Cetinay have gone on to land presenting gigs and their own shows after leaving the famous villa.

Maura Higgins also landed a spot on Dancing On Ice while her ex-boyfriend Curtis Pritchard bagged a spot on the now-axed The Greatest Dancer alongside Cheryl.

However, just one month after Paige Turley and Finn Tapp were crowned the winners, the UK went into lockdown in a bid to stop the spread of the virus.

This meant brand deals and club appearances were brought to a halt.

Speaking to The Metro, PR expert Jack Cooper from EdHopkinsPR said: “The Winter Love Island stars are set to lose huge amounts of money, some contestants up to £500,000.”

He added: “Brand deals at the moment are at an all-time low, many companies are not able to afford the usual Love Island prices for sponsorship deals.

“They are also missing out on club appearances due to them being closed, which could have earned them up to £5,000 per hour.”

The public relations mastermind continued: “With no events to attend, they are also missing out on a huge range of exposure in the media, having no stories for the press to write about.

“Many of the participants have approached us to represent them during this tough time. Due to our books being full and also the lack of opportunities in the industry at this time, we have had to decline them.”

Despite there currently being no work for the sslanders, he believes couples that last will benefit financially in the future once the lockdown is relaxed.

“People are interested in keeping up to date with what they are doing, especially if they are isolating together,” he said.

“Being in a couple brings up their financial worth, and in some circumstances could secure them a deal of up to £10,000.”

Love Island winner Amber Gill was predicted to bank £1 million by the end of 2019 following her successful deal with clothing company, Miss Pap.
