Kevin Clark, the actor who played the drummer in School of Rock, has tragically died aged 32 after being hit by a car while cycling.
Clark was knocked down in Chicago, the US, on Wednesday morning, May 26, and was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.
He had reportedly been travelling home when he was struck by the vehicle.
A 20-year-old woman was driving the car which hit Kevin but has not been arrested, TMZ reports.
The Cook County Medical Examiner stated he was treated at the hospital, but medics couldn’t save him and he was pronounced dead around 2am.
School of Rock, which came out in 2003, was the professional drummer’s only movie credit.
In the film, which was a box-office hit and inspired a Broadway musical of the same name, Clark played drummer Freddy Jones, nicknamed “Spazzy McGee”.
He was just 14 years old when he was cast in the role, rising to fame as a child star thanks to the Richard Linklater-directed production, which starred Jack Black as a maverick substitute teacher.
Despite the success of the film, Clark decided to abandon acting for music, focusing on his career as a professional drummer.
He played in several bands throughout his career, and his most recent endeavour was as the drummer in the group Jessie Bess and the Intentions.
Tragically, the band played their first live show together last Saturday.
Discussing his decision to make a career of his passion for music, he previously told The Sun: “Most of the kids left acting for other jobs.
“No one expected me to still be playing, living in Highwood, and striving to be a rock star.”
On the 10 year anniversary of the release of School of Rock, Clark reunited with Black and his onscreen classmates for a reunion photo.
When news of his death broke, Clark’s fans and friends paid their respects to the actor and musician on social media, remembering his talent as a drummer.
“Desperately sad news about School Of Rock’s Kevin Clark. May he Rest in Peace,” wrote one Twitter user.
Another penned: “Kevin Clark the kid actor who was the drummer from school of rock…. is a very good friend of mine and just died. RIP my friend. i know you will be rocking out in heaven.”
“Damn RIP Kevin Clark, “Freddy Jones” from School of Rock. Way too young,” added a third.
