Adrian Dunbar wants to be an action hero on Line Of Duty.
The 62-year-old, who plays AC-12 boss Ted Hastings, is desperate to do more stunts.
And he is fed up it’s usually his younger co-stars Martin Compston, 36, and Vicky McClure, 37, who get to do them.
Adrian said: “I do like things that are a bit reckless, so long as the people around me are
professionals. Stuntmen will see you through anything.
“It is all about timing. The safety comes into the timing.
“So I love doing stunts like that. But sadly it is mostly Martin and Vicky that get to do the exciting stuff these days.”
Adrian has already proved he’s got what it takes to pull off dangerous moves.
The Northern Irishman put his safety on the line to
perform a stunt in the 1992 thriller movie The Crying Game, which also starred Forest Whitaker.
Adrian recalled: “I am in a car and I am all wired up.
“And there are 25 explosive devices that are going to go off. I had a wire where I had to detonate myself.”
Line Of Duty is famed for its action scenes and bosses regularly bring in stunt doubles to take on the most dangerous moves.
Adrian’s co-star Vicky McClure recently claimed there were behind-the-scenes clashes with the cast.
The actress, 37, who plays Detective Inspector Kate Fleming on the show, candidly explained that there had been days when they’d each in turn “p****ed each other off” with instances tending to blow up after a night of no sleep.
But it appears any bust-ups are quickly forgotten as Vicky, Adrian and Martin Compston often share hilarious TikTok videos of themselves dancing.
Line of Duty continues Sunday at 9pm on ITV
