Strictly Come Dancing star AJ Odudu has been at the centre of romance speculation with professional dance partner Kai Widdrington, but what has her love life been like prior to her dancing debut?
The 33-year-old Latin American pro sparked speculation when Kai was spotted telling the beauty “I love you” after their gripping performance inspired by the Bodyguard.
The chemistry between the pair has been hailed electric by thousands of viewers.
AJ spoke out about their chemistry, telling The Sun: “Right, So Kai has not only been teaching me how to dance but he’s been teaching me how to act. There’s a lot of passion, there’s a lot of chemistry, there’s a lot of romance, it’s thrilling!
“And in practice, I could not look at Kai without bursting out into laughter.”
She added: “But now hopefully come Saturday night, I’m going to look at him eye to eye, look in love and it’s going to be amazing. But it is awkward!”
But as AJ speaks about her undeniable chemistry, who else has she sparked flames with?
Is AJ single?
AJ has kept her cards close to her chest when it comes to past lovers, if her social media was any indication, then the TV host is not currently dating anyone.
In 2018, AJ took part in Channel 4’s Manhunting With My Mum, which saw the British TV presenter and her mother Florence travel to Nigeria in hope of finding the ideal match.
The stunning Blackburn native, who was single at the time, explained that her mother and father had an arranged marriage – with their relationship lasting more than 40 years and produced eight children.
But it seemed the starlet was not as lucky as her folks.
In November 2020, the Married At First Sight hostess told the Daily Mail she was still single after the pandemic had stumped any kind of dating.
Speaking to the publication, she said: “It’s so funny because I thought ‘right this is the time I’m going to go on a date!’ and then just as I was getting out there, lockdown two happened and now I’m just focused on work.”
AJ once rejected a virgin who wanted to date her
In the documentary Manhunting With My Mum, AJ had been introduced to church-goer KC, 34.
As the pair met up and attempted to get to know each other, KC explained that he had been saving his virginity for marriage.
The duo adventured on a picnic date in Nigeria when the dreaded question arose about AJ sex life came to light.
KC quizzed: “So have you had sex before? Or are you a chas (chastity) or virgin like me?”
“I’m not chas like you, I don’t have my chastity belt and I’m not regretful of that,” she added.
“I would say you’re honest, you are open and I like that. I would like to give this a try,” prompted the professional Scrabble player.
Things became even more tense when KC asked AJ if she could teach him a few things “sexually” which changed the flow of the conversation completely.
At that point, AJ decided to let him down gently.
Speaking to camera after the date, she explained: “Having dated guys who just couldn’t keep it in their trousers KC’s values make him oddly desirable.
“He’s such a nice guy, I genuinely don’t believe that he’d ever cheat on me. That’s so good. That’s so great. That’s what I want.
“But the problem is teaching someone and taking someones virginity, that’s too much pressure for me and I don’t want to be responsible for it.”
Cheating claims
AJ dropped a number of bombshell cheating claims when filming with her mother Florence but decided not to name any of the culprits.
It also surfaced on an episode of Celebrity SAS: He Who Dares Wins in 2019 that some of AJ’s exes may not have been completely loyal.
She even revealed that she had been caught up in a heartbreaking love triangle.
“I’ve been cheated on by three ex-boyfriends… one of them was sleeping with my best friend,” she revealed on the show, Reality Titbit reports.
The Celebrity First Dates Hotel special
In 2019, AJ was introduced to Duke – a 31-year-old mortgage broker from Essex on The Celebrity First Dates Hotel special.
The strapping lad had no idea that he would be paired with the drop-dead gorgeous television star.
The cute couple really seemed to hit it off and sparks were flying as the energy between them intensified.
AJ was ecstatic by the end of the date, hailing Duke as a “10/10”.
Duke was first to announce that he did want to see AJ again, leaving the bombshell thrilled.
The rest of their time was not aired but it is believed the loved-up pair did stay on to enjoy their summer of romance together.
Romance fail
On Manhunting With My Mum, AJ did captivate the attention of Timini Egbuson on the show.
While AJ confessed at the end of the programme that she would like to see how dating worked, out it appears the romance didn’t ever take off.
After the show had finished, Timini took to Instagram with a happy snap of them together on the beach.
He wrote: “Congratulations @ajodudu #ManhuntingWithMyMum premiered on Channel 4 @channel4 last night and it was amazing.
“I’m happy I was a part of it but more importantly I’m happy that I met you.”
Suspicious trip to Paris
The Blackburn lass was also speculated to be dating a chap called Jordan Wiggin who she was spotted on a trip to Paris with in 2018.
Both AJ and Jordan liked a comment asking: “Your man?”, which lead to rumours they may have been more than just friends.
