Alan Carr divides Royal Variety fans with risky joke to William over Kate Middleton

Alan Carr has left viewers divided after hosting the Royal Variety Performance.

The comedian fronted this year’s event at the Royal Albert Hall.

However, he made an awkward joke aimed at Prince William and his wife Kate who were watching from the royal box, leaving ITV viewers divided.

The 45-year-old made the mischievous joke at the Cambridge’s during his hosting stint after Alan complimented the Duchess on her dazzling green gown.

The comedian has been married to his husband Paul Drayton since 2018.

Alan was quick to tell Prince William: “Sir, I am sure you do not know who I am.

One fan said: “FFS! This is unbearable. How did Alan Carr get the job? What an unfunny, embarrassment he is. Even his parents are squirming. #RoyalVarietyPerformance.”

Alan has previously admitted to worrying about saying the wrong thing while hosting in front of the royal family.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, he said: “Oh, of course, you worry. My mum and dad were there as well, it was just so stressful.”
