Alan Carr's husband thanks fans for their support after he 'fell off the wagon'

Alan Carr’ s husband has thanked people for their love after he fell off the wagon.

Actor Paul Drayton, who married comic Alan in 2018, triggered fears for his mental health after he shared a snap online of himself with a black eye following a booze binge.

He has since denied Alan, 45, hit him during a row.

Paul, 46, who has battled alcoholism, said online: “Thank you to absolutely everyone for your love and support!!!”

Last week, funny man Alan told The Sun about his husband’s ordeal and his drinking habit.

The star said: “While I was away filming on location the past few weeks, Paul fell off the wagon and started drinking again.

“When I arrived back home from Wales, Paul was covered in scratches and bruises from a drinking binge.”

He added “We are now working together to get the help he needs to get better which is our number one priority right now.”

Paul’s binge-drinking injury came only three days after he shared a picture of himself looking disarranged in while wearing a vomit-stained t-shirt.

Taking to social media, Paul shared the photo with his fans and captioned the pic: “This is what alcoholism does to you. My gorgeous husband took this pic.”

Concerned for his welfare, some of Paul’s celebrity pals commented on the photo.

Carol Vorderman penned: “We love you Paul.”

While actress Tamzin Outhwaite asked: “When was this? Are you OK?”

Paul and Alan tied the knot in 2018 at Adele’s Los Angeles mansion. The singer also married the pair herself in her garden.

Comedian Alan previously spoke about his husband’s troubles with drink in his book Alantomy.

The star penned: “It’s horrible when you realise how bad it’s got. You’re watching someone kill themselves,” the star wrote.

“I wanted to leave him. It’s the lies that get you – the, ‘Oh I’ll never drink again’. And then you go out, realise you’ve forgotten your car keys, go back and… [Paul would be drinking.]

“I couldn’t cope, because when I left the house, I didn’t know if he was going to have a fall, or put something on the hob and fall asleep. He was grey and shuffling around. It was like watching someone die.”
