Alec Baldwin 'asked why he was handed 'hot gun' straight after fatal shooting'

Alec Baldwin reportedly questioned why he had been handed a live gun after fatally shooting a woman on the set of his latest movie project.

The 63-year-old actor was left distraught after he accidentally shot dead cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in a tragic event, which also saw a second member of the crew injured.

As more details of the shooting unfold, Showbiz411 has detailed how the Hollywood star allegedly could not believe he had been given a loaded weapon.

The eyewitness claimed to the publication that just one bullet discharged from the prop gun killing director of photography Halyna and passing through her body into director Joel Souza.

While Ms Hutchins was fatally wounded as the bullet passed through her, Joel was hit in the clavicle and survived the wound.

The Santa Fe based movie set for Rust was reportedly immediately locked down as an ambulance and helicopters rushed to the scene to provide medical care.

Halyna sadly passed away in the helicopter on the way to the hospital.

Meanwhile, Alec was allegedly heard repeatedly asking why he had been given a “hot gun” and exclaiming “in all my years, I’ve never been handed a hot gun.”

The term “hot gun” refers to one loaded with real ammunition.

At that point, Alec was unaware of the outcomes for either victim and was subsequently taken to the hospital himself.

The eyewitness explained: “He had no idea how badly they were hurt or Halyna was dead.”

Rust is classed as a Tier 1 production meaning the budget is less than $6 million.

The movie lists two stunt persons and one medic on the crew rundown on IMDB.

It is now expected that all work on the film will come to an end – almost certainly for good as the potential for serious lawsuits which will need to be answered surrounding the incident will rule out any chance of further work.
