Alex Beresford likes tweet saying 'good things come when you’re not a p****'

Alex Beresford has liked a tweet which read “good things come when you’re not a p****” after his Good Morning Britain presenter debut.

The 40-year-old former weather presenter co-hosted the show alongside veteran Kate Garraway on Friday after a savage on-air row with Piers Morgan.

The tweet was originally posted by TV presenter Maya Jama.

He added the like just hours after GMB aired.

It was Alex’s first time back on the morning programme since his blazing row with Piers Morgan, who stormed off set and later quit the show for good.

Kate told Alex it was “lovely” to have him back, but Alex himself made no reference to the dramatic events earlier this month.

Alex was full of praise for Kate following her brave Finding Derek documentary, which aired on Tuesday.

She replied: “And you’ve had tumultuous times as well Alex, it’s lovely to have you here, it very much is.”

Alex said it was “good to be back”.

He originally criticised fiery host Piers Morgan over his comments about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s shocking interview with Oprah.

Piers said live on air that he didn’t “believe a word [Meghan] said” in the bombshell interview.

It came after Meghan revealed she was having suicidal thoughts and went to the Royal Family for help.

At the time, Alex furiously told Piers: “I understand that you don’t like Meghan Markle. You’ve made it so clear a number of times on this programme, and I understand that you had a personal relationship with Meghan Markle and she cut you off.

“Has she said anything about you after she cut you off? She’s entitled to cut you off if she wants to. And yet you continue to trash her.”

Piers then walked off the set, saying: “OK, I’m done with this”, before returning ten minutes later.

Alex continued: “Do you know what? That’s pathetic. This is absolutely diabolical behaviour. I’m sorry, but Piers spouts off on a regular basis and we all have to sit there and listen – 6.30 to 7 o’clock yesterday was incredibly hard to watch.”

He broke his silence on the row a few days later, explaining on Twitter: “I wish I had the privilege to sit on the fence.

“In order for me to do that I would have to strip myself of my identity and that’s not something I can do.”

He continued: “It’s not any of our places to pick apart claims of racism in order to make us feel more comfortable.”

ITV chief executive Dame Carolyn McCall said that she “completely believed what [the duchess] says” and added that ITV is “totally committed to” mental health.

She described Piers as “an outspoken, challenging, opinionated, disruptive broadcaster.”
