Amanda Holden giggles as co-host Jamie Theakston 'takes swipe' at Piers Morgan

Amanda Holden was overheard giggling on today’s Heart FM after her co-host Jamie Theakston appeared to poke fun at Piers Morgan.

The 50-year-old radio star, who is a close friend of Piers, was signing off at the end of today’s show when Jamie made the apparent dig.

The remark came just one day after Piers Morgan dramatically stormed off Good Morning Britain during a live show amid a debate with his co-star Alex Beresford.

Following yesterday’s outburst, ITV has since confirmed that Piers Morgan has quit the show.

As the showbiz world reacted to Piers’ departure from the show, Jamie and Amanda had a light-hearted response that appeared to be aimed at yesterday’s events.

“So we’ve made it to the end of the show, no-one’s stormed out or anything,” Jamie joked.

Amanda found the remark hilarious and was heard giggling as they marked the end of the show.

However, she refrained from saying anything about the events that had taken place at ITV yesterday.

On Tuesday morning, tensions were high on GMB when Piers Morgan stormed off set after Alex Beresford called out his treatment of Meghan Markle.

At the time, Alex said that the presenter had continued to “trash” Meghan Markle after she cut him off.

While Piers eventually returned to the show, following the episode it had emerged that the outspoken ITV presenter had quit the show.

It has also been revealed that Ofcom has launched an investigation into ITV and GMB after receiving some 41,000 complaints following the show.

ITV later released a statement and confirmed that Piers would be leaving the show.

The statement read: “Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain.

“ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”

Piers spoke outside his home today and added: “I had a good chat with ITV and we agreed to disagree.”

It is so far unclear who will replace Piers Morgan and star alongside Susanna Reid on the morning breakfast show.

For the time being, Ranvir Singh has stepped in to host the show alongside Susanna.
