Amanda Holden's husband actor identity unmasked as Chris Hughes is missing from show

Amanda Holden’s new comedy series The Holden Girls: Mandy & Myrtle aired on E4 last night and fans were confused when Amanda’s husband wasn’t played by her husband, Chris Hughes.

The documentary-style comedic series follows Amanda, her family and her nan, Myrtle.

It was last night when the first episode aired that we all found out that Kriss was playing Amanda’s husband Chris – as the identity remained concealed thanks to clever pixelation throughout the show.

People thought that her husband was actually her husband, and confused fans took to Twitter to discuss.

One said: “If @AmandaHolden’s husband did not want to be in the show #mandyandmyrtle then why is he in it or is he really just doing it for a joke?”

“Gosh her husband seems a miserable sod #mandyandmyrtle,” another penned.

Last week Kriss Dillon took to Instagram to reveal that he was starring in the new series.

He captioned a snap of him and Amanda: “The Holden Girls: #MandyAndMyrtle coming to @e4grams on Tuesday 7th Sept 10pm.

“Had a great time filming alongside one of my favourite comedians (who I can’t name yet) and Amanda Holden. It was so much fun to film, Hope you all enjoy watching.”

The unmasked identity of Amanda’s on-screen hubby comes as Keith Lemon star Leigh Francis was revealed as playing Amanda’s nan, after rumours were spiralling about who will play the character, with Leigh Francis, Alan Carr and Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly all under the spotlight.

The show portrays a concerned Amanda who persuades her lonely nan to relocate from Doncaster to live with her in her swanky London house.

The Heart radio presenter, 50, recently said: “I’m delighted that everyone is finally going to meet my nan, the apple never falls far from my tree and in this series she will certainly be keeping me on my toes.”

Channel 4 Commissioning Editor, Steven Handley said: “Amanda is one of the UK’s most well-known stars and we are thrilled to get insight into her life with her nan.”
