GB News chairman Andrew Neil was overcome with emotion during his appearance on Wednesday’s episode of This Morning.

The 72-year-old journalist appeared on the famous blue sofa alongside Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield to discuss the latest news headlines.

Royal Editor Camilla Tominey also joined in the conversation via a video link from her office.

As the segment drew to a close, Andrew broke down in tears as he thanked Holly and Phillip for being “so kind” and “wonderful” to him.

The former Sky News journalist said: “Listen, I wanted to come on today to thank you.”

Ahead of the This Morning View segment, Phillip pointed out that it was the first time Andrew had been in the studio for over a year.

Andrew’s new channel GB News kicks off on Sunday June 13 and will not provide rolling news, but instead is expected to be a mix of news, opinion, and debate.

Phil asked about presenters and quickly asked if former Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan will be part of the launch.

Andrew confirmed that Piers, 56, would not be involved but didn’t rule out that the outspoken presenter would join the team in the future.
