Ant and Dec 'don't know' when I'm A Celeb will return amid fears show may be axed

I’m A Celeb bosses aren’t sure when the show will be back on our screens after Storm Arwen wreaked havoc on set and shut it down.

Presenters Ant and Dec also ‘don’t know’ when the programme will be back for sure after the weather reportedly battered and damaged the set.

This year’s series, filmed at Gwyrch Castle in Abergele, is facing an uncertain future in the coming week when shows were pulled from the air over the weekend.

The disruption led to the celebrities being evacuated to safety on Saturday night and stars were kept in isolation to stay in Covid bubbles.

However, after a few days without live broadcasts from the hit show, ITV is unsure when it’ll definitely be back to normal scheduling for a live show.

A spokesperson for ITV said: “This is an on-going live situation and we’re taking each day as it comes and working round the clock.

“Our priority is safely getting the whole site back up and running which means the show is back on air in the quickest time possible.

“We’re currently not in a position to confirm when we’ll be back on air but we’ll absolutely keep you posted when we get more updates.”

Friday night saw a pre-recorded show air, and Saturday and Sunday night shows were called off after poor weather conditions – and there are fears the series may be axed altogether.

In an update on Instagram, hosts Ant and Dec told fans they’re not sure when they can get back to filming.

“Hello and welcome to We’re Celebrities – Get Us In There!” Ant began, mimicking the show’s famous opening line.

Dec confessed they were both “desperate to get back on the telly” as he gave an update on the current situation.

He said: “I’ve got an update – site was quite badly damaged during the storm and they are in there working round the clock to try and get it back up and running and back up to speed so we can get back on air as quick as humanly possible.

“But we don’t know when that’s going to be just yet.”
