Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly made one last political jibe during the finale of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! when they jokingly announced him as the first celebrity signing for the 2022 series.
Holding up a mock I’m A Celeb campmate t-shirt, Boris’s name was on the back complete with a phone number for fans next year to vote him to do bushtucker trials or to win.
Ant and Dec then went on to say that they had signed Boris to the 2022 series of I’m A Celeb, as the first celebrity campmate to be on the books.
Fans on Twitter exploded in hysterics with one saying: “One last joke from Ant and Dec! Boris Johnson has a T-Shirt ready and waiting for him for next year! Well…his dad did it! Evening Prime Minister….for now!”
Another said: “Ant & Dec killing it with the Boris jokes.”
A third penned: “Ant and Dec saying they’ve already booked Boris for next year’s show. [laughing emoji].”
And a fourth wrote: “Lol. Ant & Dec want Boris for next years I’m a Celebrity, get Me Out of Here’ ! Just one problem – only Boris thinks he’s a celebrity. Whereas the public thought he could hack it as a PM.”
While a fourth said: “Boris would do every f*cking trial and for once, I would not be annoyed!!”
This came as Ant and Dec acknowledged their political clout on the semi final last night (December 11).
“As some of you may know, this show was mentioned in the House of Commons last Wednesday,” Dec proudly said as he opened the show.
“Yes, ever since then we’ve become increasingly aware of our political and social responsibilities. We take those responsibilities extremely seriously,” Ant added.
The Geordie duo have been referencing the outrage circling the government ever since the news broke about an alleged Christmas party that apparently took place last December.
On Tuesday, December 7’s show Dec said: “It’s all changed in camp now, because yesterday the celebs chose a new leader.
“And that means David [Ginola]’s reign is over. But they didn’t celebrate. They didn’t have a party, they categorically deny any suggestion that they had a party. And this fictional party definitely didn’t involve cheese and wine or a secret Santa,” Ant continued.
The crew members laughed and Dec followed it up with a more direct dig: “Evening Prime Minister… for now.”
