Ashley Cain’s daughter Azaylia has shown strength like no other as the eight-month-old continues to heartbreakingly battle leukaemia after doctors advised there was no further treatment for her.
Though despite support from those close to her, it seemed as though Azaylia had taken a turn for the worse after her eyes had become so swollen that she was struggled to be able to open them.
While the brave tot has seen some perkier days recently, it seemed that mum Safiyya was worried her condition had deteriorated suddenly.
She told her Instagram followers: “She’s really really struggling today.”
Now fearful, mum and dad sought advice from their local community nurse who advised that they would need to use a cold compress to ease Azaylia’s swelling.
Refusing to leave her daughter’s side, she cradled her little girl as she spoke on social media.
She said: “Azaylia’s got really, really swollen eyes today and we’ve been told by our community nurses to put some cold compresses on them and get them down again so she can open her eyes, bless her.
“She’s really, really struggling today.”
In another post, she shared a snippet of her child resting in a baby chair while she nestled an cold white bandage across her little eyes to ease her discomfort.
Ashley’s girlfriend Safiyya added: “Nice cold compression to cool Azaliya’s eyes as her kidneys are finding it difficult to drain fluid.
“I hope this feels nice for you baby.”
In August last year, Safiyya and Ashley welcomed Azalylia into the world but they were left totally devastated after she was diagnosed with leukaemia at just eight weeks old.
The pair have fought tirelessly to save their baby daughter’s life and even raised over £1 million in hope of taking Azalyia to Singapore for specialist treatment.
They have documented much of her fight on their Instagram pages, and told how they hope to make their little girl’s time with them as full of fun, love, and happiness as possible.
UK doctors tragically discovered tumours all over Azaylia’s body, including her brain and spleen, which meant specialists had to deliver the harrowing news that there were no more treatment options.
Her sad story certainly sent a wave of emotion across the nation as many came out to their doorsteps to clap for the brave tot last week.
