BBC Breakfast hit by technical blunder as John Barnes is cut off mid-interview

Live television often comes with it’s technical faults and on Wednesday’s episode of BBC Breakfast, presenters Dan Walker and Louise Minchin were left on the edge of their seats when their interview with John Barnes got cut off mid-conversation.

The European Super football league has been a reoccurring theme on the breakfast show within the last few days or so, as Dan and Louise continue to discuss the latest developments.

As several English clubs have now withdrawn from the controversial league, presenters Dan and Louise had former England player John Barnes on the show to discuss his thoughts on it all.

Footballer John spoke passionately about his views on the situation and agreed that it is more of a business opportunity and about increasing capital.

Dan quizzed the football pro further and asked him about a fan review and whether they will be any changes coming in the pipeline.

John said: “Well first of all, if Liverpool fans are unhappy and they want to get rid of John to sell the club, who do they want to sell the club to? Someone with more money than him and if someone is coming with the same amount of money, how do you think they got that money?

“Someone who comes in making decisions about financed without regard.

“Unless it will be a football fan – or the old David Dean, the Hillwoods and the families from Liverpool.

“But those days are over. It’s business people coming in based purely on finances.”

The star added: “The only way it’s going to work…”

Though the conversation between Dan and John was flowing very well, John was cut off abruptly by a technical fault, which allowed viewers to only see a blue screen.

Disappointed, presenters Dan and Louise appeared rather confused as they did not know exactly what to do next.

Broadcaster Dan said: “Ahh, John. John Barnes midpoint.”

“What’s the way it’s gonna work, John?” Dan screeched.

But thankfully John returned to finish off his argument and said the only way it can work going forward was if a salary cap was introduced into the premier league. This would ensure that all teams would have a level playing field.

Louise responded: “Thank goodness we got that last bit in John, thank you very much.”

Fans on Twitter were also pleased with ex-England footballers views and went to the platform to air their views.

One supporter penned: “John Barnes wow! So articulate and straight to the point on all topics!”

While another said: “Finally John Barnes speaks the sense about the ESL.”
