Fans of the BBC Breakfast show wondered if Sally Nugent had permanently taken over from usual host Louise Minchin.
Viewers were stunned to see that the Sports reporter had stepped in to host the programme alongside Dan Walker on Monday and Tuesday.
Earlier this year, Louise, 52, confirmed that she would be leaving the TV channel in Autumn after 20 years of presenting on the morning show.
The major schedule shake-up caused quite a stir online, with many suspecting that Louise had slipped out of the door quietly without even saying goodbye.
One tweet read: “Where’s Louise on BBC’s Breakfast?”
A second person said: “Omg please don’t tell me Louise has already left BBC Breakfast.”
While another added: “I do love Sally but nobody can host this show like Louise.”
As there had been quite a big reaction on Twitter, Sally explained Louise’s absence.
Setting the record straight, Sally confirmed she was holding the fort while Louise enjoyed a summer holiday with her family in Wales.
It isn’t the first time that Sally, 50, has taken the presenting reigns on the programme.
Having worked on the BBC Breakfast for over 15 years, she has covered for Louise on a number of occasions already.
Just weeks ago, Sally sent the rumour mill into a swirl after she’d announced two of the documentaries she’d host – Marcus Rashford: Feeding Britain’s Children and Rob Burrow: My Year with MND had both been shortlisted for National Television Awards.
Discussing the nominations, Sally said: “It has been a privilege to follow both Rob and Marcus’ inspirational journeys and to cover two incredibly important subject matters in these documentaries.
“To be nominated twice for such a prestigious award means the world to myself and the BBC Breakfast and Sport teams.”
After he success had been announced, Sally became the firm favourite to step into Louise’s shoes when she departs later on in the year.
