BBC Breakfast suffers technical gaffe as fans compare sound to Doctor Who Daleks

Live television can often come with an array of technical difficulties and on Monday’s BBC Breakfast this was certainly the case when presenter Dan Walker interviewed a doctor in Coventry.

Dan, 44, who is usually in the studio with co-host Louise Minchin interviewed medical staff at Coventry hospital. But things did not go smoothly at all for the broadcaster when he could hardly be heard by viewers at home.

The sound became so unbearable that many viewers took to Twitter to compare the sound quality to Dr Who’s Daleks.

One viewer chimed: “Ae you interviewing a Dalek?”

Another said: “This segment of #BBCBreakfast was streamed via NTL dialup apparently.”

Dan suffered sound problems during his interview

A third questioned: “Are the daleks on tv?”

While someone else said: “I know they say Dan’s interview technique is robotic, but this is ridiculous!”

One viewer was very annoyed that the segment was allowed to continue for so long: “Wtf was that you incompetent clowns! Why wasn’t that stopped? Sack the idiot.”

At the end of the interview a very croaky Dan -who could hardly be heard at this point said: “Sorry if been unable to hear that we are experiencing technical difficulties.”

Dan could hardly be heard and viewers complained

Back at the studio, Louise then had to apologise for the poor sound quality too.

This is not the first time BBC breakfast presenters have had to apologise for sound and technical problems as they are often faced with quite a few blunders live on air.

Last week, weather forecaster Matt Taylor took to Twitter to apologise to viewers after he experienced “lots of tech issues” while presenting his segment.

He also went fairly quiet while presenting the weather, which viewers picked up on.

Taking to Twitter Matt penned: “Apologies for the unusual silence this morning – LOTS of tech issues my end

He then went to give further insight on the weather: “Main issue some of you lot (parts of C+E’ern Eng) will have today though is the rain and flooding risk.”
