BBC Breakfast’s Carol Kirkwood gets impatient as she reports live from Wimbledon’s Centre Court.
The weather presenter who was giving a weather report from Wimbledon, was battling with loud bangs as staff at the venue were busy preparing Centre Court behind her.
The 59-year-old weather presenter then stunned Dan Walker and Louise Minchin when she snapped at the Wimbledon staff, asking: “Could you just hurry up?”
The staff who were preparing to unveil Centre Court ahead of day one of the annual tennis tournament, were standing behind the BBC Breakfast star as she finished her weather report.
She said: “You can see behind me now, they’re just about to go. They’re just having a little bit of a pause while they talk amongst each other while they’re working out exactly what to do.
“But hopefully in the next few seconds or so, they’ll be off, and this will be the first time we’ve seen Centre court uncovered at the start of this fortnight of the Wimbledon Championships.
“It’s all really rather exciting.”
She continued to babble as she grew impatient, waiting for the staff to uncover the green.
“You’ll see the pristine grass underneath in just a second, it always looks so beautifully manicured at this stage and at the end of Wimbledon fortnight of course it looks quite different, very well trampled on and very well used.”
Laughing, she added: “There’s no pressure on these poor guys, they know that we’re filming them live.”
The popular weather presenter split from her husband Jimmy in 2008, and after 18 years of marriage, their divorce was finalised in 2012.
Nine years on, the 59-year-old has revealed that she has found love again with a secret boyfriend ahead of the release of her debut romance novel.
Carol’s new book Under A Greek Moon was described by Harper Collins as being a “glamorous and escapist read”, as it focuses on a Hollywood actress dealing with the aftermath of “scandal”.
Her book is expected to be released in stores on July 8.
Carol has been a regular fixture on BBC news since 1998 and although she’s got a book coming out next month, we doubt she’ll be closing up her umbrella anytime soon.
