BBC Breakfast's Dan Walker missing from show as Charlie Stayt steps in to replace him

Dan Walker was missing from BBC Breakfast on Wednesday morning, meaning his co-star Charlie Stayt stepped in to replace him on the show.

Dan Walker usually co-hosts the beloved BBC One breakfast show from Monday to Wednesday each week, but he was nowhere to be seen on Wednesday’s show (6 September).

Instead, it was Charlie Stayt who took to the sofa to co-present the show alongside Sally Nugent, who has been co-hosting the show with Dan.

Sally Nugent has been presenting the morning show since Breakfast legend Louise Minchin retired from the show after 20 years.

Dan’s colleagues Charlie and Naga Munchetty present the show on Thursdays and Fridays, but there was clearly a shake-up in the schedule this week as Charlie took Dan’s spot.

It’s not the first time this week that Dan was away from the show as Jon Kay stepped in to replace him on Tuesday, presenting alongside Sally.

However, Dan still appeared on Tuesday’s show as he gave Boris Johnson a grilling during a tense interview at the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester.

He was missing again on Wednesday’s show though as political expert Adam Fleming replaced him during the second day of the conference.

Although it is not known why Dan has been absent from BBC Breakfast this week, the dad-of-three has been competing on Strictly Come Dancing.

The star has been paired up with Strictly pro Nadiya Bychkova, and he’s given his BBC viewers regular updates on his Strictly rehearsals.

Earlier this week, he revealed that he was offered a muscle-suit to wear for his Paso Doble dance, but he snubbed the outfit in favour of his natural abs.

On Monday’s show, he admitted he had only been able to slot in 17 hours of Strictly training the previous week due to his work obligations.

Before the show last Saturday, Dan shared a hilarious mirror selfie which showed the star standing in the mirror whilst wearing the muscly suit.

He penned: “I’ve been asked if I want to wear a muscle suit for tonight’s dance… I declined”.
