Dan Walker has shared a touching tribute to his exiting BBC Breakfast co-host Louise Minchin, who is saying goodbye to the show today (September 15).
Louise announced that she was leaving the BBC morning show earlier this year, and her final episode date has quickly arrived.
On Tuesday evening ahead of his final show with Louise, Dan shared a string of images of them together from over the years.
He wrote in the caption: “I can’t believe it has come about so quickly.
“After five-and-a-half years sharing a sofa with this wonderful woman (who has done it for 20 years) tomorrow is Louise Minchin’s last day on BBC Breakfast.
“I hope you can join us to say ‘goodbye’.”
The first image showed them smiling from the BBC studios and staring off into the distance.
The second was an on-location shot, with the hosting duo wrapped up warm in their wool coats and their mugs in front of them, while they could be seen with poppy pins on their lapels.
The third saw them return to the studio and again look off into the distance, though this time they had rather thoughtful expressions on their faces.
And the final image saw them smart and dressed up at what appears to be a party, with Dan in a crisp white shirt and Louise in a navy blue dress.
Louise commented on the post: “Happy days,” alongside a heart-eye emoji.
On Wednesday morning, Louise fought back tears as Dan read out sweet messages from viewers on her final show.
Louise became emotional and added that she was “embarrassed” and “tearful” when she read the messages.
She went on: “There’s so many things to say, but first of all it’s the people, it’s the people who watch, thank you all so much for your huge support, particularly over the last two years, it’s been really tough and I’ve felt we’re all part of a story together, a shared history and it’s been amazing to be here.
“There are so many messages and I’m kind of embarrassed and humbled and tearful when I read them, but there’s that sense that some people have literally grown up watching me and I feel really privileged to have been in that position and to have worked here all those years.
“There have been tough days and tough stories, but it’s been amazing and I’m really genuinely touched by all those things people have said and it’s a bit embarrassing.”
BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One
