Dan Walker was clearly still frustrated over the cricket result as he fumed for BBC Breakfast’s sports presenter John Watson to “stop talking” as he spoke about England’s disappointment on the programme.
The 44-year-old Strictly Come Dancing star rudely shut down his co-star who had been updating viewers on England’s recent loss at the 2021 Ashes tournament.
Concluding his section on the show John explained to Dan and host Luxmy Gopal that he was still feeling wounded over Australia’s win.
Having heard enough, Dan swooped in to stop him in tracks.
John explained: “As it is for [cricket star] Joe Root at the moment and the England set up and they’ll be desperately searching for answers now.
“But you kind of feel so far away from home now, you know with the disappointment, three crushing defeats…”
Dan chirped in: “Stop bringing us misery John.
“Just stop talking.”
“It’s a slice of reality,” defended John.
Even Dan’s co-star Luxmy seemed to agree Luxmy as she told John: “Yes but we like our reality but with a little more sugarcoating please.”
Dan added: “Thank you John, well actually not thank you,” before Luxmy chimed in: “Yeah no thanks.”
Fortunately, John seemed to see the funny side as he began to chuckle away as he sat next to Dan on the iconic red sofa.
Meanwhile, Dan caused quite a stir with viewers as he took to the helm of the programme solo on Monday.
The newsreader took to social media to discuss his “lonesome” appearance on the breakfast show.
The broadcaster, told his 266,000 Instagram followers: “Anyone fancy a job on the sofa this morning?
“I’m flying solo on Breakfast today.
“Enjoy the leftovers,” he added.
Later, the TV star took to Twitter sharing a picture of him sitting alone and without his usual co-star Sally Nugent.
He wrote: “I’m a lonesome cowboy on the @BBCBreakfast sofa and am working my way through some mince pies and miniature heroes.”
