Ben Shephard was stunned as Kate managed to make the Tipping Point machine perform a rare ‘double shove,’ but she was still the second to leave the competition.
Kate was attempting to catch up with her fellow contestants Trevor and Andy on the popular ITV game show.
Things weren’t looking good as her prize fund was on £100 which was far behind them both.
Kate then impressed presenter Ben with an unusual machine feat as when she put her coin in, the counter rapidly dropped to the first level and immediately knocked a counter over the first edge.
Then, with another shove, it knocked into the counters again, but the move still failed to retrieve any money for Kate’s prize fund.
Ben remarked: “Cheeky double shove,” as he pointed out the rare move.
Despite her best efforts, Kate was the second player to leave the competition after fellow contestant Kim was the first.
Trevor was tonight’s winner and was in with the chance of taking home the hugely sought-after £10,000 jackpot prize.
He had made an astounding £2,850 but then ran out of counters.
The jackpot coin was dangling off the edge of the Tipping point, so Trevor bravely gambled his winnings for three more chances to win it.
Sadly, his move didn’t pay off as he didn’t get the jackpot and lost £2,850.
Ben Shephard was gutted as he remarked: “What a painful way to finish the game.”
Viewers were heartbroken for the player as they went into meltdown on Twitter.
One said: “Heartbroken for Trevor, all that effort, played so well but just not well enough.”
Another penned: “OH TREVOR.”
“Wow that was f***ed up, unlucky Trevor,” wrote a third.
Tipping Point airs weekdays at 4pm on ITV.
