Ben Shephard slams Prince Harry for blasting dad Prince Charles' parenting style

Ben Shephard had blasted new dad Prince Harry for criticising his own father’s parenting methods – as the royal has only been a dad himself “for five minutes”.

During Good Morning Britain, Ben and Kate Garraway were discussing Prince Harry’s most recent bombshell interview – a podcast called the Armchair Expert with Dax Sheppard.

The Duke of Sussex spoke about his mental health in the podcast and described his Royal Family life as “a mix between The Truman Show and being in a zoo”.

Harry, 36, also seemed to bash his father Prince Charles again – after revealing in the Oprah interview that his father had “cut him off financially” – by saying he wanted to “break the cycle” of the “pain and suffering” of his own upbringing.

But rather than agreeing with him like co-host Kate, 56, did, Ben said it was particularly inappropriate considering that Prince Charlies buried his own dad just weeks before.

Ben said: “I mean, when you start with, ‘I don’t want to point the finger’ and then immediately points the finger! It’s a really…

“Because you’re going to think, ‘Hang on, I did my best, I what I thought was right – just as you’re saying you are doing what you think is right.”

“But we’ve all been there as young parents,” Ben, 46, added.

“What am I going to do? I’m going to take the best bits that my parents did and take the bits that I didn’t quite enjoy as much as a kid growing up.”

“But then you get down the line 10 or 15 years later and you put your hands up and say, ‘Goodness me, I can see why you did the best you did’. And you have more respect.”

He added: “He’s been a parent for five minutes, what’s he doing talking about being a parent, telling people – that’s the thing I find really, really difficult.

“The thing we really liked about Harry was that he was so normal and down to earth and there’s something that has happened.

“His father buried his own father just a few weeks ago! I can’t imagine how impossibly difficult that has been for the whole family.”

After sensationally quitting the Royal Family, Harry moved to California with his wife Meghan and son Archie, two.

Since living in the States, he has made various sensationalist claims about his family, including that they refused to give Archie the title of a prince due to the colour of his skin.

Prince William later came out and insisted the royal family “were not racist”.

Harry and Meghan, 39, are currently expecting their second child this summer, a daughter.
