Blink-182 star Mark Hoppus is ‘cancer free’ after receiving a devastating stage 4 lymphoma diagnosis.
Mark had previously explained how he initially received his diagnosis in April with a text to his doctor which he shared to his Instagram Stories.
His text read: “Hi Jill. For the past couple days I’ve had this dull sore lump in my shoulder kind of right where it connects to my neck that could either be fatal lymphoma or a sore muscle.
“At what point should I be concerned and have it looked at?”
But now, after treatment for his stage 4 diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, Mark has happily declared that he has beaten cancer.
Taking to his Instagram, the musician penned a statement which read: “Just saw my oncologist and I’m cancer free!! Thank you God and universe and friends and family and everyone who sent support and kindness and love.
“Still have to get scanned every six months and it’ll take me until the end of the year to get back to normal but today is an amazing day and I feel so blessed.
“Can I get a W in the chat?”
Fans immediately poured into the comments section to congratulate Mark and share their love, with one posting: “Thank god!”
“Big win Mark!” another echoed, while a third follower gushed: “The best news!!”
“You are incredible!!” someone else posted in all-caps.
Mark has been sharing updates on his cancer journey in the past few months, sharing a snap of him hooked up to a chemotherapy machine in August, raising a peace sign for the camera.
He gave an update in July that the chemotherapy seemed to be working, telling fans: “I still have months of treatment ahead, but it’s the best possible news.”
Fellow Blink-182 star Tom DeLonge offered an update on his former bandmate when he’d finished his round of chemo, sharing a text exchange which saw Mark write: “No more [treatment] planned.
“Doctor said I can take my port out. I think because he thinks chemo did the trick and I’m done but also if the chemo didn’t work we do a different treatment entirely?”
Tom replied in the text thread: “Wow. That’s great news. Time for LIVING.”
The 49-year-old bassist offered another update last week, as he said his “energy and mood” had vastly improved.
Taking to Twitter, he told fans: “Walked three and a half miles, my energy and mood are better, and I find out next week if the chemo worked let’s f***ing GOOOO.”
