Britain's Got Talent's Susan Boyle opens up on surprise Olympic performance

Britain’s Got Talent finalist Susan Boyle recently wowed her fans, as she made a surprise appearance at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

The talented singer played her part in the star-studded opening ceremony and charmed audiences with her rendition of The Doves’ Wings to Fly.

Susan, 60, who hails from Blackburn, Scotland hasn’t been on national television for quite some time but she made sure she reminded fans of what they’ve been missing with her incredible vocals.

As she sang her interpretation of the 1970 Japanese folk song, she astonished fans, who rushed to social media to share their joy over her impressive performance.

Taking to Twitter, one shocked fan penned: “Wait. SUSAN BOYLE is performing at the Tokyo Olympics. Did I hear that right?!”

While another said: “Susan Boyle Featuring In The Olympics Opening Ceremony Is The Gift No One Saw Coming.”

A third commented: “Her voice is so beautiful and I also got goosebumps.”

“It gave us chills to hear Susan’s beautiful voice singing Wings to Fly at the Tokyo Olympics! Beautiful!!,” a fourth exclaimed.

Susan also took to Twitter to discuss her entertaining performance with fans and expressed that it was an “honour” to sing at the Olympics.

Tweeting to her fans, she said: “It was a true honour to be asked by the #TokyoOlympics to use my song ‘Wings To Fly’ during the dove release at the Opening Ceremony.”

Despite having several fans across the globe, Susan has been laying rather low in recent years and hasn’t tweeted directly from her account since April 2020.

The incredible vocalist first rose to fame in 2009 on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent when she reached the final of the popular reality show.

Although she did her very best, Susan didn’t win BGT and was beaten by dance group Diversity.

Susan gained a number of loyal supporters globally with her likeable personality while on the show as well as her amazing rendition of I Dreamed a Dream from the musical Les Misérables.

Once the programme came to an end, the Scottish singer released her debut album I Dreamed a Dream which went on to become the UK’s best-selling debut album of all time.

In 2019, Susan made a highly anticipated TV return and took part in in America’s Got Talent: The Champions.

During the show, Susan received a golden buzzer from judge Mel B for her performance of Wild Horses.

Despite admitting that she entered the competition to “win this time” unfortunately she didn’t make the top five.
