Pop star Britney Spears is already taking steps to draft an iron clad prenup just hours after announcing her engagement to now-fiancé Sam Asghari, according to TMZ.
The longtime couple broke the internet on Sunday when they shared a series of snaps on Instagram flaunting her giant diamond engagement ring, with Britney captioning the post: “I can’t f***ing believe it!” accompanied by a bunch of ring and heart emojis.
The Overprotected singer, who has been dating 27-year-old personal trainer Asghari since 2016, was flooded with desperate pleas from fans on Instagram urging the star to protect her reported $60million (£43m) fortune when the pair marry.
Oscar winner Octavia Spencer, 51, was also among those concerned, writing in a since-deleted comment: “Make him sign a prenup.”
The singers new fiancé joked with online haters, who some have dubbed “the new K-Fed” in relation to her previously failed marriage to Kevin Federline.
“Thank you to everyone who is concerned about the prenup!” Asghari sarcastically wrote on his Instagram.
“Of course we’re getting an iron clad prenup to protect my jeep and shoe collection in case she dumps me one day,” he continued, adding two crying-laughing emojis.
Spears, 39, shares sons Sean Preston and Jayden James, both 15, with ex K-Fed, 43, who infamously proposed to the Grammy winner in 2004 after only two months of dating.
They went on to marry that October before divorcing in 2007.
Asghari also acknowledged the supportive comments in another post saying: “My phone exploded today! Thank you for the overwhelming love and congratulations! We both love [every] single one of you.”
Britney started dating Asghari after they met on the set of her Slumber Party video.
This would be Britney’s third marriage after the star married childhood friend Jason Allen Alexander at A Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada In January 2004.
The marriage was annulled 55 hours later, following a petition to the court that stated that Spears “lacked understanding of her actions”.
These days, the Toxic singer has little control over her own money, as she has been under a controversial conservatorship since February 2008.
Her estranged father, Jamie Spears, has sole control of her assets, though he finally filed a petition earlier this month to end the legal arrangement and give Britney her freedom back amidst the #freebritney movement.
